About LiteracyCalc
LiteracyCalc makes free calculators for the reading assessments teachers give every week.
Who we are
LiteracyCalc is built by Abdul Razzaq, an educational content strategist who publishes reading and English language resources for students and teachers. He runs ReadingComprehensionWorksheet.com, a library of printable reading passages for Grades 1 to 12, and EnglishLanguageStudies.com, a site for English learners, teachers and IELTS candidates.
Teachers using those passages kept asking the same questions: how do I score this fluency read, what does this running record tell me, what grade is this text? LiteracyCalc answers them with tools instead of spreadsheets.
How we keep the tools accurate
- Every calculator uses a published formula, printed on its page with a worked example.
- We test each tool against hand-scored examples before it goes live.
- Each page shows the date it was last reviewed.
What the tools are not
The calculators support teacher judgment. They are not diagnostic tests and do not replace your school's assessment program.
